Sardegna: Institutions and Private
Citizens like “sentinels” of the
territory"
Gallura’s territory together with Rally
d’Italia Sardegna: The Italian race of
the Rally World Championship must stay
in Sardinia. These are the contents of
the agreement that took place this
morning in the Meeting Room of the
Province Olbia-Tempio, leading
protagonists: Angelo Sticchi Damiani,
Chairman of the Organizing Committee,
Province Chairwoman of Olbia-Tempio
Mrs.Pietrina Murrighile, Mayor of Olbia
Settimo Nizzi, Mayor of Tempio Antonio
Pintus, Mayor of Arzachena Pasquale
Ragnedda, Mayor of Budduso’ Antonio
Satta, Mayor of Luras Maria Giuseppina
Careddu, Mayor of Onani’ Fausto Goddi,
Mayor of Sant’Antonio di Gallura Benito
Scanu, and Provincial Councillor of Alà
dei Sardi Gilberto Bo.
Introducing the
topics, the Province Chairwoman of
Olbia-Tempio Mrs Pietrina Murrighile
invited everyone “to be sentinel in
defending the territory from the threat
of loosing an event that is so important,
considering the economical impact and
the media interest in it”.
“The rally belongs to us and we will
fight for it” this is the strong
position of the Mayor of Olbia Settimo
Nizzi, giving voice to a common thought:
we have to make a pledge in order to
keep the Rally Race in Sardinia.
“The article n° 2
of our Statute declares that Automobile
Club Italia must support motor sports in
Italy” - ACI Chairman Angelo Sticchi
Damiani started his speech - “and the
choice of Sardinia, as the event
location, is not by chance: the 2006
edition of the Rally d’Italia Sardegna
has been considered by the FIA as one of
the best of the whole Championship. ACI
believes in Sardinia and its territory
and considers essential the role of the
Local Institutions in finding suitable
solutions. All the Mayors have
acknowledge of the benefits that Rally
means: to enlarge the tourist flow , to
give new value to unknown zones, usually
ignored by tourists but extremely rich
in traditions and natural treasures, to
bring the name and the image of the
Island all over the world. In this
context everyone has offered the
Chairman Sticchi Damiani their support,
and their resources.
Also Private Local
Entrepreneurs support without any doubts
the event’s organization. Thanks to the
cooperation with companies like Gruppo
Colony, the starting and finishing
ceremony will take place in Porto Cervo,
the 17th and the 20th May. Podium and
Parc Fermè will be set up in the
glamorous location of Marina Vecchia.
The Gala Dinner will be served at the
famous Cala di Volpe Hotel.
An agreement has
been also signed with Meridiana and its
Tour Operator Wokita, in order to be
able to offer suitable tourist packages,
and with companies like Cantina del
Vermentino, expression of world wide
famous Gallura’s territory realities. |
