Race track of the Rally d’Italia Sardegna 2007

The itinerary of the race track of the Rally d’Italia Sardegna 2007 is on the web site of the event: www.rallyitaliasardegna.com.
The race, that is the seventh one in the WRC calendar and the third one of Fia Junior Championship, will take place from 17 to 20 May with headquarters in Olbia and both the starting point and the arrival in Port Cervo. It will be organized in three legs, each one is made of three special stages, which will be repeated twice for a total of 18 special stages.
The race track of 2007 seems quite similar to the previous editions. It has been planned by Carlo Cassina, 46 years old, in the past a co-driver of champions such as Biason (in 1988 they won in Portugal on Delta Martini) Cerrato, Liatti and Valentino Rossi.

FIRST LEG
“Planning the race track, we taked advantage, for the first two legs, of special stages already used in the previous three editions”.- said Cassina. “ So after two years, on the first day we are going to come back through the State Property Forest of Castrazza, near Bitti which is in province of Nuoro.
In the second special stages of Terranova we are going to run on roads already used in the past with a never seen before final on the site of Sorilis. The third leg is a brand new edition of the Monte Olia one and it will run through the state road SS89”.

SECOND LEG
On the second day there aren’t many changes with respect to the last edition.” The second leg- Cassina continues – will start with the special stage of Loelle, that is almost the same as the edition 2005, with the usual way by the nuraghe. The second special stage will be the one with the spectacular jump of Monte Lerno, then in the third special stage of Su Filigosu a new initial track will put in.

THIRD LEG
As usual the final leg will be completely challenged in Gallura. “On the last day – Cassina continues – There are three short special stages, one of them (Monte Nuragone), is brand new.
The race track will take place throughout the area between Arzachena e Tempio”.

SERVICE PARK
Service parks in Cala Saccaia will be organized at the beginning, at half time and at the end of the first two legs. Also in this edition, on the third day there won’t be the service park at half time of the leg, but there will be only a regrouping in Arzachena like last year.
“The service park – said Antonio Turitto, General Manager of the Rally d’Italia Sardegna- will develop on a surface of 80.000mq for the teams and of 120.000mq for parkings.
This time we changed the arrangement of the teams in order to give more visibility to the private ones and to exhibition stands.
Teams of Junior S1600 Championship and other private teams will take place at the entrance. Next to that will be the parc fermè, the commercial area and all official WRC teams.

IN SHORT
Within the 1.061,84 km of the race track, 342,86 will be timed. A large part of them, will be visited on roads of Sardinia’s Forest Authority.
The three provinces interested for the race are Olbia – Tempio, Nuoro and Sassari.
