D’ITALIA SARDEGNA
There is a lot of
news about Rally d’Italia Sardegna 2007.
Here is the main news, that will
directly interest the public and the
operative personnel involved in the
Rally.
RACE TRACK
The itinerary of the race track of Rally
d’Italia Sardegna has been slightly
changed.
The location areas are much the same as
Monte Acuto and Gallura but the
itinerary of the three planning legs has
been changed.
Actually, the first two legs are almost
similar as the last edition but the
third one has been renovated because the
new special stage of Monte Nuragone is
7,76 km long and there have been deep
changes in the others special stages.
HEADQUARTERS
This year the hot of the race will be at
the hotel Melià, which for the first
time will host the Race Control the and
the Press Office of Rally d’Italia
Sardegna.
As the Headquarters is only 1 km far
from Cala Caccia, the operative
personnel can easily reach the service
park.
The Media Accreditation Centre will be
situated at the hotel Melià.
SHAKEDOWN
Also the location of the shakedown has
been chanced compared to the previous
years.
Thursday morning of the17th May, the
drivers will get their cars ready for
the rally. The usual test before the
race will run for 3 km on the gravel
roads of Monte Plebi, that is in the
north suburb of Olbia.
The starting point of the shakedown will
be in Sole Ruju and the arrival on the
hill of Plebi.
The shakedown is about 10 km far away
from the Service Park of Cala Saccaia.
The length of the stage is 2,95 km.
A perfect “light service” will be
organized in the area of Iperstanda. The
competitors must come back to the
permanent service park of Cala Saccaia
for more complicated operations.
The entrance to the stop of the
shakedown is forbidden to all cars,
cause to the dimension of the
carriageway.
The accredited journalists will have at
their disposal a shuttle service for the
duration of the shakedown.
FINAL OF THE RACE
The final of the race is brand new. In
Olbia during the third leg, there won’t
be either the regrouping or the service
park. The competitors won’t come back to
the city, but will make twice a
regrouping in Arzachena. After the
second turn, they will go directly to
Porto Cervo for the final arrival and
the Prize Giving Ceremony
CLERK OF THE
COURSE
After a three year of collaboration with
the finnish Simo Lampinen, Lucio De Mori
will be the new Clerk of the Course of
Rally d’Italia Sardegna. He was born in
1950 in Friuli and he has been already
for five times Clerk of the Course for
Rally di San Remo and twice of
Paris-Dakar.
He is the first Italian Clerk of the
Course for Rally d’Italia Sardegna.
