Olbia was built in
the 4th century BC by the Carthaginian
and is now an important airport centre
as well as a known harbour City. Thanks
to a natural port that boasts over 2500
years of history Olbia became since
centuries an important commercial port
of the island. Corso Umberto, a street
full of life and bustling with activity,
displays to passers-by the Art
nouveau-style Town Hall. In front of
Olbia, in the homonymous gulf, the
impressive island of Tavolara, a 565 m
tall limestone massif that reminds a
gigantic iceberg.
