OBIETTIVO 2010,
UN TRAGUARDO PER LA VITA
“Road safety is a
world-wide emergency, confirms Franco
Lucchesi, ACI President. Every year, on
the roads, there are more than 1,2
million victims of roads accidents and
more that 50 million people are injured.
An unacceptable amount, morally and
economically speaking. Everyone is aware
that it’s not a question of fate because
the major of these accidents could and
should be avoided.
It is necessary to act as soon as
possible, organizing a global world wide
policy and to investing in teaching road
safety. Otherwise the problem will grow
out of control, and will reach
unbearable level in cost, both
economically but also socially.
Lucchesi goes on to say that ACI wants
to put all its energy and its resources
into a really new initiative, making
aware all the local and provincial ACI
Clubs and their associates and get the
help of all the political parties,
government institutions, non-profit
organization, the media, opinion makers
and the general public, in a beg to stop
road accidents.
For this reason ACI has made a petition
on his web site in order to pressurize
the Italian government and the G8 in
adopting concrete policies, in order to
rise investment for road safety all over
the world.
The petition is part of a four years
project called “Obiettivo 2010, un
traguardo per la vita” (Target 2010: a
life goal) supported by ACI and by other
enterprises, associations and voluntary
organizations. This project focuses on a
policy to invest in road safety in order
to lessen the number of victims before
2010, following the instruction of the
European Union.
