LAST TEST
At the end of last week, the Ford Team
completed testing in Gallura in the lead
up to Rally d’Italia Sardegna. The
drivers Mikko Hirvonen and Jani Matti
Latvala have set up a WRC Ford Focus for
their rally program next weekend. Mikko
Hirvonen, leader of the WRC Championship,
seems to be very satisfied with the work
they have done and is motivated for
Rally d’Italia Sardegna.
“I’d like to repeat my successful
outcome at the Rally of Jordon,” Mikko
Hirvonen said. “Rally d’Italia Sardegna
is one of my favourite rallies and after
finishing in second place last year,
this year I want to win and be on the
top of the podium!”
Last week, Sardinia hosted the last
testing series for the development of
the new Subaru Impreza S14. In 2004, the
teams discovered the technical gravel
roads of the special stages and were
therefore chosen by the English-Japanese
team to develop the new Banbury based
WRC car. To verify the quality of the
new WRC 2008 car, the official tester
Estonian driver Markko Martin started
the set up for Petter Solberg and Chris
Atkinson, both in the new car for the
first time. At the end of testing, the
Subaru and Prodrive technical staff were
very satisfied with the work they had
done. In the coming days the team will
become official when the new Impreza S14
competes for the first time.
