THE RALLY
D’ITALIA SARDEGNA ORGANIZING COMMITTEE
WELCOMES THE MEDIA
At the presence of the the major
regional media representatives, this
afternoon has taken part a press
conference at the Head Quarter of the
event, Sol Melià hotel in Olbia, in
order to introduce the Rally Italia
Sardegna, sixth Round of the World Rally
Championship and third appointment of
the Junior WRC.
Angelo Sticchi Damiani, President of the
Organizing Committee, Gianni Giovannelli,
Olbia’s Major, Mario Maulu, President of
the Automobile Club of Oristano,
Giovanni Monaca, Director of the
Automobile Club of Sassari and Pier
paolo Seddone, President of the
Automobile Club of Nuoro, were all
present.
Angelo Sticchi Damiani – President of
the Organizing Committee
To face for the
fifth time this extraordinary adventure
is really a great joy for all of us.
The effort that the Automobile Club
d’Italia faces in organizing the Rally
d’Italia Sardegna is never ending. We
perfectly know that we can count on a
willing team that allows us to live our
Organizing’s role in a very peaceful
way. A great economical effort due
especially to the safety aspect. It is
not unusual that our Rally was the most
safety one last year. It could not be
different. When a National Authority is
directly involved in the Organization of
such an event, it must be an example for
everyone. We have reached our goal and
now we have not only to maintain this
level, but to improve it over and over.
Also in the promotion area we have
reached important goals and on Sunday
thanks to the cooperation with RAI, a
live broadcast of the last Special Stage
will be possible. We are sure that it is
possible to organize the most beautiful
Rally in the world and we are working to
reach this aim thanks to the important
cooperation with the local authorities
too. ACI is a non-profit public entity.
Gianni
Giovannelli – Major of Olbia
First of all I would like to welcome
everybody. It has been several years
that we cooperate in occasion of this
event. The Rally is one of the
unrenounceble appointment for Olbia, an
event that is of great importance for
the visibility of the territory and we
will be always present.
Especially thanks to the quality of the
Organizing team that let us feel very
confident. I’m sure that the Rally
d’Italia Sardegna may become even more
important.
Mario Maulu –
President of AC Oristano
I would like to thank the Automobile
Club d’Italia for the great opportunity
it has given to the provincial AC to be
a part of the Organizing Committee. We
are very proud of it and I’m sure we can
be useful.
Giovanni Monaca
– Director of AC Sassari
I can just underline the high profile of
the Organization. I totally agree with
Sticchi Damiani’s mind when he talks
about the important role of ACI. The
local AC helps with the participation of
several Marshalls. We want to grant a
lucky future to this important event.
Pierpaolo
Seddone – President of AC Nuoro
It is very important for me even because
it is the first time that the Nuoro’s
province hosts a Rally raced on gravel.
We would like to enlighten the Sardinian
hinterland, a very fascinating
territory.
The Starting
Cerimonial of the Rally Italia Sardegna
will take place tomorrow at 20:00, in
the enchanting surrounding of the Marina
Vecchia in Porto Cervo.
In the morning Drivers will be involved
in the shakedown, pre-race appointment,
in the area of Monte Pinu. The race will
start on Friday 16th . A total of racing
