Situated in the
most rugged area of Gallura, land of the
shepherd who live in company of flock,
as well as eagles, sparrow hawks, wild
boar, foxes and wildcats, lies Ala dei
Sardi. It is a farming and pastoral
village at a height of over 600 m,
surrounded by vast areas of cork forest
as well as holm-oak woods concealing
many nuraghes, evidence of ancient human
presence in the area. The houses, built
of bare granite pieces, indicate a long
history of the stonemason’s activity. |
