RALLY D’ITALIA SARDEGNA 2009

The 2009 edition of the Italian round of the World Rally Championship will be held from May 20th to May 24th. The Rally counts for the Junior WRC and Production WRC.

Double news for the Rally d’Italia Sardegna 2009: firstly about the itinerary and also the Ceremonial Start. Regarding the itinerary we have chosen two new special stages, located in the Goceano area, in the middle of Sardinia, as you can see on the map on our web site. While this year the Ceremonial Start will be held on the waterfront in Olbia.

In the first day the itinerary will pass through Olbia-Tempio and Nuoro territory with Sa Conchedda, Crastazza and Loelle SS’. In 2009 the start of the Loelle’s S.S. will be in Latari and the passage in front of the Nuraghe will run in the opposite direction to the 2008 edition.

The second day will be run in the Sassari territory and most importantly, in the Goceano area, providing a stunning landscape as the backdrop for the race. Firstly there is “Sa Linea” the route of an old railway line, now without the trains, obviously. A beautiful land and fashionable itinerary. Secondly, there is Fiorentini, in the heart of the Forestry Department Area. The third is the well-known Monte Lerno.

The third day, like in 2008, will be held in the Monte Olia, Terranova and La Prugnola - Arzachena, where the live tv stage will take place.

Finally the logistics. The HQ will be set up in the Melia Hotel near the Rally Village that will take place, as always, in Cala Saccaia. The Ceremonial Start will be organized in the centre of Olbia, near the waterfront, in order to involve the citizens of the town in the rally show.
The Podium Ceremony will be set up in the fashionable stage of Porto Cervo.
