THE SARDINIA AND
ITS RALLY
In the
Olbia-Tempio, Sassari and Nuoro areas
all is ready to house the 2009 Rally
d’Italia Sardegna edition, the Italian
round of the World Rally Championship.
The race organized by the Automobile
Club d’Italia has a total track of
1263,20km, including 17 special stages
on rough roads of 347,12 km
There are only two months to the start
of the Rally d’Italia Sardegna, the
Italian round of the FIA World Rally
Championship, scheduled from 21st to
24th of May, which is also valid for the
FIA Production Car World Rally
Championship and for the FIA Junior
World Rally Championship.
The organization
staff, which has been working
immediately the day after the end of the
2008 edition, has set up a race more
interesting and difficult and with more
technical screenings in comparison with
the last editions ones. There are a lot
of news concerning the 2009 edition of
Rally d’Italia, the sixth one in
Sardinian country, especially for the
track and the logistics
Olbia will be even
more the beating heart of the race. This
year the Sardinian town will also house
the Ceremonial Start, which will take
place along the seafront promenade, in
Viale Principe Umberto, on Thursday 21st
of May at 8.00 p.m. The Head Quarter is
confirmed in the Hotel Melià in Olbia
and the Service Park is again in Cala
Saccaia. As usually the Cerimonial
Finish and the Prize giving Ceremony
will take place in Porto Cervo, the
well-known seaside resort in the
Arzachena area.
The first day,
Friday 22nd May, the track will take
place in the Olbia-Tempio and Nuoro
areas with two runs for each special
stages of Sa Conchedda (14,99 km),
Loelle (22,30 km) and Castrazza (27,81
km). The race will start at 8.00 a.m.
from Olbia and will end at about 6.00
p.m. at the service park in Cala Saccaia.
The total track will be 428,04 km long,
including 130,20 km of special stages.
On Saturday 23rd
of May, the second day, there will be
two new special stages in the Goceano
area and the famous one passing through
Monte Lerno area. All the stages will be
repeated twice. The start will be at
6.30 a.m. again from Cala Saccaia. Sa
Linea (14.20 km) will be the first stage
of the day, which follows the track of
an old left railway . Fiorentini (22,02
km) will be the second special stage.
The third timed part of the second day
will be the special stage of Monte Lerno
(29.15 km), famous for the all over the
world well-known jump. The end of day 2
will be at about 6.30 p.m. In this
second day the crews will have to drive
along 511,76 km, including 6 SS (130.74
km).
The third and last
day, Sunday 24th of May, decisive
moments will be lived during the twice
repeated stages of Monte Olia (19.31 km)
and Sorilis (18,66 km) and in the stages
of Arzachena (10,24 km) which it will
only run once. The start of the last day
will be at 6.00 am from Cala Saccaia and
the Cerimonial Finish will be at 2.15
p.m. in Porto Cervo. In this last part
the crews will have to run along 323,40
km, including 5 special stages (86,18
km). |
