15 SARDINIAN CREWS AT THE START

At the start of the 2006 Rally d’Italia Sardegna there will be also 15 Sardinian crews, a very important result for the Sardinian fans of this sport (in 2004 there were 14 and in 2005, 15 as well). Among them stand out Francesco Marrone and Dino Caragliu (Mitsubishi Lancer) winners, among the Sardinian drivers, of the past two editions. There will be 10 crews of the Sardinian Porto Cervo Racing Team.
Here below the list of the Sardinian crews:
Caragliu-Atzei (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI),
Marrone-Piga (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI),
Cellino-Pisano (Subaru Impreza Sti)
Mura-Pitturru (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VII)
Casalloni-Piccinnu (Peugeot 306)
Pistis-Catignani (Subaru Impreza Sti)
Catania-Vescarelli (Subaru Impreza Sti)
Schirru-Murtas (Subaru Impreza Sti)
Pileri-Pili (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII)
Dettori-Corda (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VII)
Tali-Mirabella (Opel Astra Opc)
Fresi-Orecchioni (Seta Ibiza)
Pranzoni-Pranzoni (Reanult Clio RS)
Filigheddu-Orecchioni (Peugeot 106)
Buscarini-Giovannini (Rover Mg Zr).
It is important to point out that Fabio Frisiero on a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VII, like last year and thanks to the contribution of Mite (a group that helps disabled persons to take part in car races), will have a Sardinian almost unable to see co-driver Francesco Cozzula.

THE MANNONI PRIZE
After the success obtained in the past two editions, also this year the Mannoni Trophy will be awarded. It is a prize that the families Giua and Mannoni of Calangianus will offer in memory of Carlo Mannoni, a boy native of the town of Calangianus, who died in 2004 when he was only 22 years old. Carlo was a fan of rally, Formula 1, speed boat races and motorcycling. His family decided to establish this prize to underline how important the Rally d’Italia Sardegna has become for this island and also how important is it for the youths of this territory.
Two years ago Petter Solberg and Phil Mills won this prize, while last year it has been won by “Gigi” Galli and Guido D’Amore. In the past two editions the silver trophy has been awarded to the winners of the Lovia Avria special stage. This year instead the prize will go to the driver with the best result obtained summing up the two passages times on the most spectacular and difficult stage of the rally, Monte Lerno.
