Gigi Galli: racing to get on the podium
Gigi Galli on his Peugeot 307 Wrc n. 25
prepared by Bozian with the colors of
Pirelli and co-driven by Giovanni
Bernacchini, will be one of the most
observed Italian drivers. He is now
taking a brake at home in Livigno (Northern
Italy) after the good result obtained in
Argentina and before leaving for Rally
d’Italia Sardegna..
“Yes, I’m very satisfied with the race I
did, it was the result we longed for,
but very difficult to achieve at our
debut on gravel. We’ve staked everything
on regularity and we didn’t push hard
until mid race because we didn’t know
enough the car behavior on gravel. This
choice helped us to get the third place
on the podium”.
Do you like the Peugeot 307 Wrc prepared
by Bozian? “Well yes, it’s a car that
has been developed a lot in the past,
big attention to details has been paid
preparing the car. It has a better
engine supply than Mitsubishi and is
better to drive because it’s easier to
obtain the best possible traction”.
Are you satisfied with the tyres? “We
knew the tyres were fine already before
the race, the right compound and a good
tread, during the rally all that has
been confirmed by the performance of the
car”.
What’s your target for Rally d’Italia
Sardegna? “We have good possibilities in
Sardinia, we have the right car and we
are resolute to reach a good result. I
really hope I’ll have the possibility to
have a day test before the race”.
“Pirelli is happy with Galli’s
performance” said Terenzio Testoni,
Pirelli technician “It has been
important for us to have another car
racing with our tyres, it helps
understanding our potential. The
participation of Gigi helps us a lot
collating the data of the tyres
performance and understand better how
our product is getting on. This alliance
is helping him too, because allows him
to keep racing and have better
opportunities to find an official team
for next year”.
What does Pirelli expect from Galli at
Rally Italia Sardegna? “We hope to get
on the podium. Gigi has the possibility
to repeat the performance of Argentina
and he knows well the Sardinian gravel
roads. Pirelli also head for a win with
Petter Solberg. The Norwegian driver has
the qualities to win again in Sardinia
and the Subaru Impreza Wrc 2006 proved
to be good on gravel in Mexico and
Argentina and is now ready for a win”.
