Development and Tourism: the Sardinian
Forest Board and Rally d’Italia Sardegna
together in a common project
The Sardinian Forest Board and Rally
d’Italia Sardegna partners for three
years: the agreement has been made
between ACI – Organising Committee and
Forest Board and will allow the Rally to
use the dirt roads of Sardinia for three
years, 2006 – 2008. “It’s been an
agreement of quite big importance for
Rally d’Italia Sardegna2 said Angelo
Sticchi Damiani, president of the
Organising Committee “We have a common
route in order to put together sport,
tourism and development of the economy
of the territory”. In line with the
target of the Forest Board, Rally
d’Italia Sardegna is carrying on a
politic of respect of the environment
and promotion of the territory. As a
matter of fact in the agreement has been
stated that in order to reduce the
environmental impact and not disturb the
fauna, the route of the rally will be
discussed every year in a meeting with
the competent councillorships of the
Region and of the provinces and with the
Organisers Committee.
For the cleaning, the restoration and
put in order the dirt roads and the
areas used during the rally the
Organisers of Rally d’Italia Sardegna
will pay an annual fee to the Forest
Board of Sardinia. Furthermore in all
the official documents will be published,
for participants and for spectators the
essential instructions for the respect
and the protection of the environment .
For each of the three years the
Automobile Club Italy establish two
scholarship with a value of 3000 Euros
each for University students in order to
study the fauna and flora. The Forest
Board of Sardinia, established in 1999
in the place of the State Owned Company
of Sardinia, has the function to develop
and exploit the forests and the fauna of
the island and the create and promote
the naturalist and historic values of
Sardinia. The relevant objectives of the
Forest Board are mainly: fire fighting,
reafforestation, care of the wild fauna
but also the preservation of old
buildings in order to use them for
tourist purposes.
The president of the Forest Board, Carlo
Murgia, has recently explained that he
provide the restoration of ancient
buildings following the
bio-architectural criteria and in a
second phase he will open to tourists
the forest properties of Sardinia.
So Sardina and its naturalistic property
will be seen and appreciated by
spectators from all over the world.
