Fabio Andolfi and Manuel Fenoli to take the start of the WRC 2 event with #40 car

06/06/2017 – For the third time in a row ACI Team Italia will be at the start of Rally Italia Sardegna organized by Automobile Club d’Italia together with Regione Sardegna. This time the crew formed by Fabio Andolfi and Manuel Fenoli will be behind the wheels of a Romeo Ferraris Hyundai i20 R5. This is the second seasonal participation in WRC2 for the 24 year old Italian driver that two weeks ago in Portugal set some interesting times but then suffered from several mechanical problems. Andolfi has other five appointments in Poland at the end of June, Finland in July, Germany at mid-August, Catalunya at the beginning of October and Wales in October.

The 14th edition of Rally Italia Sardegna has a total of 312 kilometres of special stages divided in three legs with 19 tests that follow the course used in the past three years. Based in Alghero, service park was set up near the port area again, while Head Quarter and Media Centre are hosted in the prestigious location of Lu Qualté in the city center. This year’s news is the overnight stay in Olbia on Thursday 8 June when the drivers will be arriving at the Brin pier after running the super special at the Ittiri Arena. Friday 9 June, re-starting from Olbia, drivers will face 8 special stages (4 repeated twice: Terranova, Monte Olia, Tula and Tergu-Osilo). Saturday will host Coiluna-Loelle, Monti di Alà and the classic Monte Lerno again twice. Sunday 11 June at 12.00 the showdown with the power stage of Argentiera on live tv.

Fabio Andolfi:
“I am really happy to be here in Sardinia. I am really motivated also because I am running in front of Italian fans. Stages are beautiful, I really like them and driving here for the first time in a R5-spec car will be very stimulating. We already tried some changes on our Hyundai i20 R5, we will see how things will go even if we know that the most importat goal is to gain experience”.

Claudio Bortoletto:
“After Portugal, that was not so satisfying, we hope to collect positive results in Sardinia after several changes we did during the tests on the car. Fabio is very focused and everyone wants to do a good job in front of our fans. Finishing the race is our target, then we will see”.
