12/02/2019 – The route of the 16th Rally Italia Sardegna, event organized by the Automobile Club d’Italia with the partnership of the Sardinia Region, has confirmed the choice of the last three editions of having the entire race concentrated in the north of the island. The race, the eighth round of the World Rally Championship scheduled from 13 to 16 June, will also be valid for CIR (Italian Rally Championship), CIR Junior and CIRT (Italian Gravel Rally Championship).
In order to meet the needs of the many participants and fans that will have to reach the island for the event, ACI Sport has renewed the agreement with the Grimaldi Lines Navigation Company. The partnership was designed to accompany viewers and competitors towards the RIS, with the aim of facilitating transfers thanks to highly subsidized prices on the modern ships of the Grimaldi fleet (info and advantages on www.rallyitaliasardegna.com ).
The rally will have a route consisting of 19 special stages divided into three days for a total of 313.04 timed km. For the sixth consecutive year the location of Alghero has been confirmed, with the Service Park set up also this year among the docks of the marina, the “ramblas” and the Piazzale della Pace, while the press room, the race direction and the headquarter of the event will be hosted also this time in the prestigious location of Lu Qualté. On Thursday, June 13 at 9 am the drivers after the shakedown of Olmedo (3.84 km), in an unprecedented version with the start from the spectacular bauxite mine, and will start the race at 17:00 with the classic super special stage of Ittiri Arena (2 km ). The first leg will then continue on the morning of Friday 14 June with a program of 8 timed tests (4 repeated twice), those of Tula (22.28 km), Castelsardo (14.69 km), Tergu-Osilo (14.14 km) and Monte Baranta (10.90 km) for a total of 124.02 timed km. On Saturday 15 June, the longest day of the entire race is scheduled, composed of six special stages for a total of 144.98 timed km with two passes on Coiluna-Loelle (14.97 km), Monti di Alà (28.44 km) and Monte Lerno (29.08 km). Finally on Sunday, June 16, 42.04 the timed kilometers to be divided into four special stages, that is to say, two passes at Cala Flumini (14.06 km) and on the power stage of Sassari-Argentiera (6.96 km), the second passage at 12.18 hours will be broadcast live on television all over the world. Only then will we know with certainty the name of the winner of this 16th edition of the event of the World Rally Championship, which as usual will dive with the whole team in the waters of the port of Alghero.
The program is therefore very stimulating. There will be no lack of interest, as the Italian round will take place again in the hot phase of the WRC, this time with the support of national protagonists to increase the show. There are also several opportunities to follow the event live. Like the other WRC rounds, also the RIS will be broadcast on the WRC Plus platform, in addition to streaming and on demand on DAZN, which will offer the Thursday passes with the Ittiri Arena at 5.00 pm, Saturday with Coiluna-Loelle 8.08 and 16.08, then the Sunday grand final on Sassari-Argentiera at 9.08am and 12.18pm. The RIS 2018 in fact had recorded significant data, placing itself in first place in the WRC ranking in terms of worldwide transmissions, which reached 1515 hours. An important fact that demonstrates the global interest in the Italian event, with positive implications also for the local economy in terms of revenues and tourism. The audience aspect should also be highlighted, which in the last three years has signaled a considerable increase for the RIS, a positive index obtained only by Montecarlo, France and Spain.
